Cameron Crowe Talks Favorite Bands, Return to 'Rolling Stone'

GettyWoody Allen Some food for thought about the 2011-12 awards season to go along with your Thanksgiving leftovers ...our editor recommendsBrett Ratner Breaks Twitter Silence Following Oscars ExitBilly Crystal Replaces Eddie Murphy for Oscars: What Hollywood is SayingRicky Gervais Offers to Host Oscars Following Eddie Murphy, Brett Ratner Exits A best actress Oscar nomination might well be rewarded to ... an Olsen sister. An Oscar nomination might be awarded to Steve McQueen for the first time since 1966 ... only now he's British and black. Woody Allen wrote and directed a movie that made over $133 million worldwide ... yes, in this century. Francis Ford Coppola, Werner Herzog, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Wim Wenders -- all of whom are in their sixties or seventies -- directed 3D films, while Michel Hazanavicius, a 44-year-old Frenchman, wrote and directed a black-and-white silent film. Glenn Close may finally win an Oscar for dressing up as a man, and Leonardo DiCaprio may finally win an Oscar for dressing up as a woman. Albert Brooks may score his first Oscar nom in 24 years... for playing a Jewish mobster ... in a drama. Jonah Hill may score an Oscar nod ... period. Clint Eastwood, the 81-year-old who is best known for his work on-screen as a gun-toting tough guy and off-screen as a conservative mayor of Carmel, California, just directed his latest film using a script by -- and working in close collaboration with -- Dustin Lance Black, a 37-year-old gay screenwriter. Angelina Jolie has directed a movie, while Werner Herzog is now acting in one. The famously reclusive Terrence Malick has not only been seen in public, but has even had off-the-record conversations with journalists. Carey Mulligan gets nude in a movie ... while Kate Winslet does not. Woody Harrelson, one of the most notorious potheads and anti-authority figures of his time, may score his first best actor Oscar nod in 15 years ... for playing a cop. Michelle Yeoh, who is Asia's most famous female action star and a former Bond girl, may score her first Oscar nod for playing Aung San Suu Kyi, Asia's most famously demure and soft-spoken leader. Documentary filmmaker Steve James was screwed by the Academy's documentary branch ... again. The Academy, which is supposedly so liberal, has fallen head-over-heels for a film about Margaret Thatcher, but not for a film about George Harrison. A Harry Potter film has a shot -- a long shot, but a shot -- at scoring a best picture Oscar nod. Jessica Chastain has given a half-dozen memorable supporting performances this year -- any one of which is arguably Oscar-worthy -- but consequently may wind up without a nomination for even one of them. The Academy is allowing studios to ply journalists with food, alcohol, and parties before nominations are announced ... but has essentially banned them from breathing during phase two. Ricky Gervais insulted the famously sensitive HFPA to their faces on national television less than a year ago ... and was asked to host the Golden Globes again. Billy Crystal, who virtually nobody under the age of 25 has even heard of (he himself basically acknowledged as much), was asked to host the Oscars again. Am I forgetting others? First Launched: November 24, 2011 3:27 PM EST Credit: Access Hollywood Caption Nigel Lythgoe chats with Access inside a BritWeek event in La on April 26, 2011NY, N.Y. -- The The American Idol Show Show executive producer Nigel Lythgoe states dont expect any major changes when the hit Fox Tv program returns within the month of the month of january after dealing with an extensive transformation last season. Lythgoe, who aided transform Britains Pop Idol to the American TV juggernaut in2002, returned as executive producer last season to usher inside the publish-Simon Cowell era. That ended a couple-year hiatus that allowed him to give consideration to And That Means You Think You'll Be Able To Dance, they produces helping judge. For your tenth The The American Idol Show Show season, Lythgoe introduced new idol idol judges, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, to participate holdover Randy Jackson. Veteran music producer Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope-Geffen-A&M, has been around since becoming an in-house mentor for your participants. Each one is back for Season 11, Lythgoe mentioned. In my opinion we made plenty of tweaks a year ago, Lythgoe mentioned. I'm not certain you need to make lots of more tweaks this year. Lythgoe mentioned the most crucial change introduced a year ago had nothing associated with the idol idol judges: It absolutely was an option to avoid people sea food-out-of-water moments that forced very gifted entertainers to sing in styles that didnt suit them. The finest change we made a year ago wound up being to express, OK, if you're a rustic singer you'll be able to sing these genres within your country style, Lythgoe mentioned. Were not prone to pressure you to definitely certainly do rock or anything you no more can perform. You'll be able to possess a Michael Jackson song and change it country. That brought to entertainers for instance Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart changing so much much deeper to the competition in comparison as to the they might have previously years. The Two teenage runners up, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina, were country entertainers. McCreery, the initial pure country Idol champion since Barbara Underwood in 2005, saw his October release, Apparent As Day, cause him to the initial country act to debut at No. 1 having its first studio album round the Billboard 200 chart. At 18, he increased being the youngest guy to start near the top of the chart along with his debut release. More youthful crowd was the initial Idol champion to start his publish-Idol career getting a No. 1 album since Ruben Studdard in 2003. Lythgoe mentioned a year ago the show found some incredible talent, plus it am diverse. We have got this phenomenal jazz singer in Casey, we have got a soft jazz singer in Haley, as well as the two country kids (inside the finals) probably previously years wouldnt are actually as effective since they might have been asked for to sing inside the versions that individuals used to then, he mentioned the other day. Lythgoe needs similar results in Season 11. The kids that have auditioned this year that might be taking to Hollywood in December are again really gifted and very diverse, he mentioned. Hopefully theyll deal with one of the most difficult auditions, the Hollywood week, and acquire themselves to the top 20. Lythgoe mentioned he thinks Idol needs to be totally in regards to the talent as well as the recent changes promote that. Personally, he mentioned, its really showing the talent that's here and not trying to consider somebody whos gifted, beat them across the bucket and turn them out. The Song of Lunch

Shot working in london by BBC/Masterpiece: Executive producers, Rebecca Eaton, Sarah Brown, Greg Smart producer, Pier Wilkie director, Niall MacCormick author, Christopher ReidHe - Alan Rickman She - Emma Thompson Waiter - Andi Soric Waitress - Siubhan Harrison Massimo - Frederick LongEddie Izzard been with them in "Dress to Kill" concerning the distinction between British and American movies. Britain is renowned for making more compact, subdued films, the type you will never eat popcorn to. Masterpiece Contemporary's "An Audio Lesson of Lunch" is simply that type of project -- nuanced storytelling, doting camerawork and tremendous acting. Popcorn certainly will not do, but a pleasant glass of Chianti or Grappa provides an ideal pairing. Modified from Christopher Reid's poem of lost love, longing and liquor, this excellent project consists of aspects of "The Key Existence of Walter Mitty" and "My Dinner With Andre." Reid's poem was allegedly inspired through the pub scene in James Joyce's "Ulysses." If Joyce captures slice-of-existence Dublin, Reid captures slice-of-pizza Soho London with equal parts lachrymosity, cynicism and folly. Underneath the Masterpiece Contemporary banner, this BBC production is a component of the proceed to p-stodgify the stalwart series and explore new ideas inside a timely way. While modern London may be the setting, "An Audio Lesson of Lunch" covers old styles of affection and unfaithfulness. The experience is mainly verbal, with a large amount of the storyline happening within the "leafy literary" mind of Alan Rickman's character, simply known as "he." A magazine copy editor that has arranged a lunch by having an old flame (simply "she" performed by Emma Thompson), he's apprehensive concerning the rendezvous at among their old haunts. The restaurant has transformed its look, the enthusiasts are fifteen years older, however the arguments, that old wounds and also the familiarity continues to be very fresh. "He" however, is stuck in the own mind, interacting reminiscences, findings and longing. No movement, no action is they cannot narrate, comment upon or examine. Wines are put inside a "splashy gabble," and discussing snacks or a little the hands assumes startling closeness. The interior dialogue is entertainingly place-on, both pompous and amusing, using the colorful description of the pepper grinder and it is application through the waitress one for that age range. Director Niall MacCormick combines extreme close-ups, hazy reminiscences and slow motion to provide purpose to Rickman's inner voice. His visual connect to Rickman's poetic play-by-play produces an in-depth portrait of small moments. Thompson is the best antidote to "he's" self-indulgent wistfulness and, despite less screen time, matches his level. Sharp, equally observant and intuitive, she precisely diagnoses her lunch partner as you who atmosphere poetry with therapy. Hammond: Billy Very Rides To Oscars Save Again!

Oscars: Billy Very Set As (New) Host Tom Sherak On Oscar Drama: Were Days Before Schedule Monday morning Brett Ratner was creating the Oscars (with Don Mischer) and Eddie Murphy was our prime profile host. 72 hrs later John Grazer is creating (with Don Mischer) and Billy Very might be the host. Aside from that nothing’s new. Clearly the Academy felt the need to do something with lightning speed to have the ability to alter the P.R. debacle Brett Ratner triggered along with his unfortunate and offensivecomments in many forums in the last week. They have done just that, and despite the fact that they attempted inside the recent pastto get youthful ,stylish as well as other having a couple of of the options, this year due to their chaotic character the 84th Annual Academy awards have formerly adopted (plus it’sonly November) they are playing it safe. 63 years of age Billy Very was the apparent choice in this particular scenario which he's driving to triumphantly save the Oscars much like he's done formerly. I used to be kind of rooting for your Muppets to obtain the job however guess they didn’t can. In August Very had sent strong signals he was ready to host the Oscars again “one or two moretimes” which i written then this is an ideal opportunity to obtain him within the fold since he hadn’t situated since 2004 (he did the gig 8 occasions between 1990 and 2004) and whether it's a boon to his diminishing movie career. However after Ratner was named producer I asked for him about Billy which he sloughed in the question saying the Academy had given him until mid-September to discover a host and wasn’t thinking about it. Then he overlooked Very’s public overture and elected for Murphy , his Tower Heist star. Earlier around at another appearance following a year ago’s Oscar show when he came onto a standing ovation by means of saying thanks to frequent host, the lateBob Expect the Oscar recollections, more youthful crowd indicated he might be ready to return for the show only once they fixed several things. If he meant reducing the quantity of on-air honours , not a way. The Board just won’t do that. Now Very is going to the show in the different situation as well as the best factor they can do is always to unveil the most effective ‘Billy Very Oscar show host’ bits he’s got. He should go back to what's always labored for him, place themselves into film clips in the nominees and sing a medley. Inevitably he's going to do might the comforting of the routine ofit allwill be exactly what the Oscars need this year after being launched each week’s debacle and a year ago’s poorly received show. In 1990 Very rode can provide relief along with his first Oscar hosting gigafter the disaster of the season before’s Allan Carr show through which Make the most of Lowe sang with Snow White-colored. This year history repeats itself and incredibly has came back to be able to save the Oscars from themselves once again. You're going, Billy!

Regulations & Order franchise increased being famous to help with its turning door of cast people in the quick manner (even Cragen's departure within the flagship series in 1993 was referred to curtly just like a transfer for the Anti-Corruption Task Pressure). The possible lack of Meloni's Det. Elliot Stabler remains addressed heavily in comparison. "He'd already been through it for 12 years that was a lengthy-running cop partnership in television history and that means you can't just say, 'Well, Elliot's not coming back,'" Florek states. "In my opinion in justness for the audience, in justness to Mariska Hargitay's character, it must be addressed and additionally it must be release.Inch Under this past year, Florek wasn't sure whether Cragen would account to duty whatsoever for Season 13. Right before Meloni's sudden exit, reviews mentioned that Hargitay's Det. Benson might be promoted with a supervisor position midseason - departing the fate in the current boss unknown. "I used to be certainly apprehensive and uncertain because once i heard precisely what happening initially, I didn't know essentially would return,Inch Florek states. "I didn't know anything relating to this. When i first seen it in the magazine or something like that like this and therefore this is where everything was hush-hush which i had been waiting to hear the thing that was happening." VIDEO: SVU's Mariska Hargitay states she's scared but searching toward Benson's promotion But instead of losing a captain, the series acquired two new detectives (Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino). "It's a fresh undertake everything. If you have been new company company directors, completely new authors, many new producers. Warren Leight, the completely new showrunner, is very, very considering story and not plot," according to him. "It's still procedural, but we're just getting away that a little but it's a nice touch. We kind of blew up and restore it together." Although Florek doesn't have clue just what the future holds for Cragen, he values the level of smoothness-driven detour. "In my opinion it's serendipitous. I don't think anybody first seen it going to a specific extent, however think that it's made the show reborn. It is actually another animal," according to him. "If these changes hadn't happened, I don't think we'd be talking about Russian brides and Cragen going undercover. To ensure that as near after i wound up being to others involved - but nonetheless am in several ways - Thx of those changes." Go behind-the-moments of Wednesday's episode with Florek:

OSCARS: 63 Films In Competition For Foreign-Language Film Academy Award

For the Academy’s official screening schedule, click here. EXCLUSIVE: Although the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has yet to release an official list or tally (look for that by Thursday or Friday), the screening schedule is out and now circulating among members of the Foreign Language committee. Itlists 63 films officially in competition for this year’s Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, and barring any last-minute changes or additions that will mean there will be two fewer than last year’s total of 65. Screenings begin this Friday night at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theatre with one of my favorite films out of the Cannes competition in May, Aki Kaurismaki’s delightful Le Havre, which although set in France is Finland’s official entry primarily due to the nationality of the film’s director. After welcoming remarks it screens at 7:35 p.m. on a double bill with the United Kingdom entry, Patagonia, a dramatic story in the Welsh and Spanish languagesthat tells of two parallel journeys to Patagonia and Wales. In the longthree-month process of whittling down nine finalists, the last film to be shown to the brave Academy committee volunteerswill be on Friday Jan. 13 with Argentina’s western Aballay screening at 9:25 p.m. following Romania’s Morgen, a relationship drama about the friendship between a security guard and illegal immigrant. Argentina won the Oscar two years ago with The Secret in Their Eyes. The early schedule is top-heavy with a lot of the most-anticipated and talked-about films including Israel’s Cannes Screenplay winner Footnote on Saturday morning Oct. 15 and Iran’s much-praised A Separation screening Monday night Oct. 17. Both films won high praise in Telluride and Toronto film fests. Other higher profile October entries include Agnieszka Holland’s harrowing In Darkness from Poland on Oct. 28, Denmark’s Superclasico Oct. 22 and Lebanon’s People’s Choice winner at Toronto, Where Do We Go Now? on Oct. 29. That’s a rich list that will get this competition off with a bang and keep this Academy committee happy I would think. Last year’s winner, Denmark’s In A Better World was actually one of the last films to screen in January. 2008 winner Departures was one of the earliest entries to screen that yearso it is hard to tell where the advantage is in what order the films are shown. One big difference from last year is the long running times of many 2011entries led by Taiwan’s 4-hour and 24-minute epic Warriors of the Rainbow screening Jan. 7. The Turkish selection, Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Cannes Grand Prize winner, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (screens Jan. 6) is second-longest at 2 hours and 37 minutes (and feels it) tied with the controversial Russianentry, Burnt by the Sun: Citadel (Nov. 4) , sequel to Nikita Mikhalkov’s 1995Oscar-winning Burnt by the Sun.Thenew film has already caused a bit of controversy in its homeland when the head of the Russian selection committee asked Mikhalkov to remove himselfand his film, a critical and commercial flop, from the competition. That clearly did nothappen and themovie remains in the contest. Other long sitsinclude In Darkness (143 min), The Netherlands entry Sonny Boy (140 min. – Oct. 31), Hungary’s Bela Tarr film, The Turin Horse (154 min. – Dec. 17), Serbia’s Montevideo: Taste of a Dream (145 min. – Nov. 14), and China’s epicZhang Yimou epic starring Christian Bale,TheFlowers of War (145 min. - Dec. 12). Although most entries are presented as double features, only the 2 hour and 20 minute Sonny Boy is being presentedas a twoferOct. 31. The Academy put their thinking caps on and scheduledthe shortest film in the competition as the second feature, Uruguay’s The Silent House which at 78 minutes won’t start until 10:05 that evening but is scheduled to end at 11:23 p.m. But hey it’s Halloween. Live it up, committee members. Hopefully they will both be treats. As I first reported here at Deadline there was controversy over the original Albanian entry, The Forgiveness of Blood largely due to the American nationality of its director JoshuaMarston (he was born and bred in L.A.) even though most of its other elements were purely Albanian. The Acad’s Foreign Language Exec Committee met last week andruled it ineligible, agreeing with other Albanian filmmakers who protested its initial selection.Marston was disappointed and has been vocal about what he feels is a wrong-headed decision to exclude his movie. The same thing happened to him in 2004 when his Colombian film,Maria Full Of Grace was disqualified for largely the same reasons. Albania instead will now besending Amnesty, a sexy drama from Bujar Alimani, the director whofiled the formal protest against Marston’s film. It will screen Jan. 9, near the end of the competition. Other entries and their screening dates worth noting are Sweden’s Beyond, the directorial debut of actress Pernilla August who is known for her work in Ingmar Bergman films including his Oscar-winner, Fanny and Alexander. The intense drama stars “it” girl from the original The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Noomi Rapace and won the International Critics Week award at last year’s Venice Film Festival. It screens Nov 18. Wim Wenders’ 3D dance film, Pina will have members donning their glasses Dec. 2. Mexico’s Cannes hit, Miss Bala screens Jan. 8. France’s Declaration of War unspools Nov. 12 while the Greek entry, Attenberg serves as the bottom half of that Saturday morning double bill. Italy’sTerraferma (Nov. 7)and Spain’s Black Bread (Dec. 10) were surprise entries over much higher profile possibilities from Nanni Moretti’s and Pedro Almodovar’s Cannes competition films. The Czech entry Alois Nebel screens Oct. 24 and is distinguished by being the only animated film in the foreignrace. It could also qualify for Animated Feature if entered by Nov. 1, a development the ‘toon crowd is hoping happens because it would increase the chances of 16 films qualifying in that category and therefore pushing the number of noms to five. The committees are divided into foursections that are identified by different colors, Red (which kicks things off on Friday), White, Green and Blue. Each has 16 films with the exception of Green which has 15 (but that includes that looooooong Taiwanese flick). Members must see at least 12 films from their section or another to be eligible to vote. To avoid embarrassing omissions the rules were changed a few years ago and now the top six vote getters from this larger committee (several hundred members usually)will be joined by three choices from the uber Foreign Language exec panel led by Mark Johnson. Those nine finalists then are judged by smallspecially selected Academygroups in NY and Los Angeles and whittled down to the five selections that will be announced on Jan. 24 with the rest of the Oscar nominations. Happy viewing committee members. Bring along some Murine.

Within the specific demo, women 25-54, OWN shipped a rating of .16 — lower 16% versus. the identical period a year ago when the funnel used to be Discovery Health. By the Fire (Sentados frente al fuego)

An El Remanso Cine, Pandora Films, Astronauta Films production. (International sales: El Remanso, Santiago.) Executive producers, Eduardo Villalobos Pino, Christoph Friedel, Luis Angel Ramirez. Directed, written by Alejandro Fernandez Almendras. With: Daniel Munoz, Alejandra Yanez, Daniel Candia, Tichi Lobos. (Spanish dialogue)The dying embers of a love affair are delicately raked over to haunting effect in "By the Fire," a gentle, carefully observed drama. Helmer Alejandro Fernandez Almendras revisits the rural Chilean setting of his well-received debut, "Huacho," a visually stunning background against which his characters play out their quiet personal tragedy with as much dignity as they can muster. Similarly concerned with unearthing the transcendental hidden within the everyday, pic is elliptical, oblique and wary of easy emotion, making for demanding but rewarding viewing. Like "Huacho," "Fire" could raise sparks at fests. Pic is structured into narrative blocks that correspond to the seasons of a single year. Daniel (Daniel Munoz) and his partner, Alejandra (Alejandra Yanez), are leaving the city for the countryside and are faced with moving out of a house they have been looking after. Formerly a taxi driver, Daniel trades in his cab for a pickup truck and restarts life as a rural laborer, his dreams of city life having faded. It is pretty clear they are living near the poverty line; the only real pleasure in their lives is a stray kitten Daniel brings home. The two aim to buy a small plot of land from a businessman who is interested only in selling it for profit. But the biggest shadow looming over their lives is Alejandra's terminal illness, and Daniel's pressures begin to mount after she becomes bedridden and increasingly demanding. Lacking a TV set with a remote control, Daniel has to go upstairs every time she wants a channel changed. The pic is full of such details, revealing an entire way of life. Away from the main drama, "By the Fire" reps a quiet study of day-to-day life in rural Chile, and of the stoical manner in which people go about their routines. But as Daniel hacks away at undergrowth with a sickle, the image starts to look like a metaphor for someone working too hard and getting nowhere. It's a testament to the helmer's success in creating compassion for his characters that even when Daniel starts avoiding Alejandra's calls from the hospital or sleeps with someone else, the viewer accepts and understands his reasons. There are false notes, particularly in a lengthy bedroom scene in which Daniel and Alejandra recall key moments in their emotional development; it's handy for the viewer, but it's implausible thatthey wouldn't have already talked this stuff through. Pic's episodic structure also means that dialogue tends to supply heavy doses of plot information before vanishing altogether for extended periods. Auds will have to be particularly alert over the first 15 minutes to make sense of what comes later. Munoz is present in practically every scene, and does fine, understated work as a quiet, tolerant man entering middle age whose patience is slowly being chipped away. Yanez, who established her thesping credentials in "Huacho," also does good work. Other perfs, mostly from non-pros, are likewise understated and credible, fitting smoothly into the generally low-key mood. The gentle piano score kicks in at appropriate times to accompany moments of lyricism, which become increasingly frequent as events below the surface pull things inexorably to their expected conclusion.Camera (color), Inti Briones; editor, Almendras, Jeronimo Rodriguez; music, Los Jaivas, George Gurdjeff; art director, costume designer, Mary Ann Smith; sound (Dolby Digital), Pablo Pinochet. The X Factor Recap: The Wacky Contestants Of Planet Paula & The Judges Battle Of The Sexes

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- A 14-year-old Belieber, a philosophy graduate student with a robotic twist, and a judges battle of the sexes over a key-changing beehive-sporting singer added up to one wacky, weird and wild outing of The X Factor on Wednesday night. Last week, it was Paula Abdul who nearly tossed her cookies after seeing much, much more of Seattle contestant Geo Godley than she wanted to, after he dropped his silver pants. This time around, though, it was Simon Cowell who lost his lunch after a disagreement over 19-year-old deli clerk Tiah Tolliver that led Paula to flip his snack bowl upside down in anger. There were hints that trouble was brewing between the men Simon and L.A. Reid and their female counterparts Nicole Scherzinger and Paula. Each time a pretty female singer or group hit the stage in tight clothing, Simon or L.A. would say under their breath, D.O.A., short for dead on arrival. And it was the last contestant in Seattle branded with the tag that prompted an uproar at the judges bench. It began with eye rolling from Nicole after teen Tiah hit the stage in tight jeans and a figure-hugging top, sporting cherry red lipstick, and tackling Impossible by Shontelle. Simon was an early fan saying, Ive got a real feeling about this girl. Im telling you, this girl has got something in her, I promise you. This girl, potentially, is great. Without accompaniment to keep her in check, Nicole chastised Tiah for being unable to perform the song in the same key, a position Paula supported. This girl was dead on arrival the minute she came on, Simon said of Nicoles note, words that inflamed the women on his panel. A quick vote revealed Tiah had just two supporters the men of The X Factor panel, angering Simon who chucked something on the floor. This is insane, he said. Seriously insane! You two are not giving this girl a chance. L.A. quickly convinced Tiah to perform another song. So what happened? Paula stayed firm on her No, but Nicole changed her tune. Afterward, as the judges discussed the audition, and Simon taunted her, Paula reached over and upended Simons snack bowl. Beyond the first big judges battle of the season, there were a handful of highlights, not all of them for the right reasons. One of the more unusual contestants to make it through (and, as host Steve Jones called him, a member of Planet Paula) was robot-inspired J. Mark Inman, a 31-year-old philosophy graduate student who performed his own version of Radioheads Creep. His kooky take on street dancing-style moves, a little air guitar and some nerd strip tease (he took off just a shoulders worth of his jacket), combined with his not-completely-awful vocals got him through to the next round, and a standing ovation. You are definitely in a different jurisdiction for sure, Paula said. I think Ive visited there once or twice in my life the places we could go together. Another intro package portrayed 14-year-old Drew Ryniewicz as having a major case of Bieber fever squealing about her love for the Canadian teen heartthrob, and singing to herself in the mirror in her bedroom. But on stage, the blonde youngster went from wacky to wonderful with her unique take on Baby. That was so original, L.A., who signed the Biebs, told the teen. It was soulful, it was believable, and you are special. The X Factor returns on Thursday night at 8/7 C on FOX. Copyright 2011 by NBC Universal, Inc. Finally: The Harrison Ford/Sean Young Reunion You've Been Waiting For

In the discussion as to whether or not Daniel Craig is the new Harrison Ford, we should note one critical factor separating screen legend from his younger, blonder Hollywood counterpart: Just one of them has weathered a film with Sean Young and lived to not only tell the tale, but also keep the flame alive in a moment of late-career triumph. That was the spirit on Saturday night, anyway, when the Blade Runner co-stars were reunited in L.A. for the 50th Anniversary Stuntmens Gala Honoring Harrison Ford. Fun! I mean, think how easy it would have been to just bring out Carrie Fisher. Still, this only makes me wonder what Alison Doody is up to these days. Pearl Jam Twenty

An Abramorama release of a Vinyl Films production, in association with Monkeywrench, Tremolo Prods. Produced by Cameron Crowe, Kelly Curtis, Morgan Neville, Andy Fischer. Executive producer, Michele Anthony. Directed, written by Cameron Crowe. With: Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, Jeff Ament, Matt Cameron, Chris Cornell, Boom Gaspar, David Lynch. The cinematic equivalent of a concert T-shirt, XXL biodocu "Pearl Jam Twenty" gives another awesome souvenir to die-hard fans of the chart-topping Seattle scenesters-turned-cult faves while leaving others to wish there was a thesis in former rock-journo Cameron Crowe's two-hour puff piece. Finding a pulse only in the band's late-reel performance of "Alive," a lusty passage that would've begun a pic intent on making a case for the group's greatness, "Twenty" simply counts the years from 1991 via sludgy backstage and onstage footage whose rarity can't forgive its inclusion. Crowe's critic mentor, the late Lester Bangs, would cringe. That the pic's multiplatform release includes special-event screenings on Sept. 20, followed closely by select-market runs, VOD availability and a PBS broadcast, means there's no time for Crowe to re-edit, were he so inclined. As it is, the lead-burying docu has the director introducing himself as a fan-boy scribe who heard majesty in the din emanating from Seattle circa 1985. Copious shots of the city's bridges fail to set the scene, while the early PJ's likeness to the parodically rendered headbangers of Crowe's semi-autobiographical feature "Almost Famous" hardly help.Camera (color, DV), Nicola B. Lara Lundstrom Clarke: How Gwyneth Paltrow Saved My Life On 9/11

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- A chance encounter with Gwyneth Paltrow may have saved the life of a woman on her way to the World Trade Center on the fateful morning of September 11, 2001. Lara Lundstrom Clarke, a then-24-year-old account manager at Baseline Financial Services (located on the 77th floor of Tower 2), started her morning like any other workday. I started off by rollerblading on the Hudson, got a good workout in, and was running late to work, Lara told Kit Hoover during an interview on Access Hollywood Live on Friday. Jaywalking is quite common, so there was an intersection in [the] West Village [and] I needed to get to the 1/9 train quickly. So I jaywalked across 7th Avenue, and the same time I was doing that, a silver Mercedes SUV comes barreling down, or, I should say driving down like she was supposed to I was the one who was in the wrong there and almost hit me with her car. It was a classic start/stop situation, it happened about three times, and then finally, we both started laughing, she continued. I looked over to my left, and there was Gwyneth Paltrow behind the wheel. I couldnt believe what I was seeing, and she waved me across. I couldnt wait to tell my co-workers what I had experienced. As Lara made her way to the subway station, she was frustrated to see the doors of the train slam shut as the train disappeared down the track. I literally missed my train by seconds, she said. It was one of those instances where I was going to be late, [so] at least I had a good story to tell. I was kind of annoyed, because we were under a lot of pressure at work [to be] on time. As she exited the subway station, Lara first realized something was dreadfully wrong as a female police officer was yelling at people to move away from the towers. I looked over my shoulder and I saw a gaping hole in the World Trade Center. I was just flabbergasted, she said. I walked a few more blocks, because I saw things that no one should ever see [and] peoples worst moments of their lives. After a quick phone call to her father to let him know she was all right, Laras attention turned to her friends and co-workers already at the office. I was really worried about my friends at Baseline, but at the time, our tower had not been hit, she explained. I called one of my best friends one who comes to work late and told him I was coming up to see him, and literally walked two blocks north, and as that happened all cell phones went out. As I looked over my shoulder, everyone starts running, so I start running because I figure theres got to be something else happening and I looked over and thats when the second plane came into my office, she continued. Watching her office explode into flames brought Lara to her knees as she became sick to her stomach, fearing all of her co-workers had died. In an interview with The Morton Report, Lara revealed shes been haunted by two recurring dreams since the terrorist attacks a nightmare in which she dies inside the towers and another in which she thanks the Oscar-winning beauty for possibly saving her life. If I had made that train I would have been at my desk on the 77th floor of 2 World Trade center, she told TMR. Prompted by friends as the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks approaches, Lara wrote a letter to Gwyneth, reminding her of their fateful 7th Avenue encounter. Stephen Huvane, Gwyneths publicist, told TMR that the actress does indeed remember the encounter with Lara, and is deeply moved by the story.Copyright 2011 by NBC Universal, Inc.
