what are some good meaningful/dark movies that...?

i'm tryin to find a good movie that is meaningful, but also dark (as
in, depressing, not evil) lol i dont know why... ive just have a taste
for something like that lately (preferably one where someone dies, or
almost dies... and no more than 7 or 8 years old).
